What is the best beauty advice that you have gotten?

My mom and grandmother have always told me to look presentable at all times, since first impressions are so important. I always try to look my best, especially when I’m going somewhere important. Now I don’t mean a full face of makeup every single day, but a fresh face, painted nails, hair done, and dressed appropriately.

What is your most memorable beauty faux-pas?

Not properly shaping my eyebrows when I was in middle and high school. I wish someone would have told my to keep my naturally full brows. I over plucked them in the center, which set them too far apart. The closer your brows, the smaller your nose looks!

If your vlog had a mission statement, what would it be?

My focus is to help everyone, at any age and any skill level, achieve the beautiful look they deserve at an affordable price!

How long have you been into make-up?

Ever since I can remember! At 10 years old I was playing with nail polish and attempting fun designs. Although I was too young to wear it out, I loved playing in makeup and doing my friends makeup, hair, and nails at home.

If you could only make up one part of your face per day, what would it be (i.e. eyes, lips, lashes)?

A lot of days, I just do my brows and put on mascara. If I could only choose one, it’d be mascara!

Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start a vlog?

Have fun with it and be yourself! Be consistent, creative, unique, and professional.

What type of camera do you use? What do you use to edit your videos?

I use a Canon T4i DSLR camera, and Final Cut Pro to edit my videos.

What are the best aspects of running your own vlog? What are the hardest?

There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping someone. I love getting responses from subscribers that I have helped them with their hair issues, or taught them how to apply makeup. I love interacting with subscribers and addressing their issues one on one.

The hardest part is balancing youtube, college, and my personal life. I have to schedule everything on a calendar to keep organized.

What are your favorite places to shop?

My favorite places to shop are Charlotte Russe, Forever21, Target, Kohls, and any other affordable trendy stores. For beauty items I adore Utla.

What is your daily routine?

On school days I usually go to class in the morning, then work on homework, cook, and edit videos the rest of the day. On my days off I hit the gym first thing, film videos, edit and upload, and respond to emails/comments.

If you have $1000 to spend on make-up, what would you buy?

I would definitely buy high end makeup, since I rarely purchase it on my own. I like featuring drugstore makeup on my channel that everyone can afford. But if I had the money to spend, I would definitely splurge a little on a nice foundation, eyeshadow palette, and nail polish for sure.

Has what you have learned as a business marketing major helped you with your YouTube channel?

I have learned basic marketing tactics in school that have helped me with my channel. However, I would say my youtube channel has helped me more in school and work. Having a youtube channel provides first hand experience in the marketing industry, whether it be collaborating with brands, using social media, and developing an online presence.

You have been making videos for 3 years now. Do you ever go back and watch your old videos? What do you think of them? Is there a piece of advice you wish you could give your past-self about being a guru and making videos?

Yes! I will sometimes go back and watch a few old ones. Although it feels embarrassing, I think it is so nice to see how I’ve grown since I started. I wish I could have known to be more relaxed in front of the camera, and not sound so uptight. Practice really does make perfect when it comes to making videos. Now I feel more comfortable letting my personality show through, and really have fun while filming.

How has starting a vlog changed your daily life? What have you learned from it?

My daily life has greatly changed, since I am constantly thinking of new video ideas, working on videos, and interacting with subscribers all day. I have learned so much, its hard to pick one thing! I have gained confidence and learned that I can be myself by doing what I am truly passionate about. It’s definitely a creative outlet for me.

What are some of your favorite memories from the past year?

I got an amazing opportunity to go to New York City for the first time and collaborate with a brand for launching a new product. I could not have been more grateful!

What are your favorite things to do off-camera?

I love going to the beach, laying by the pool, and spending time with my boyfriend and my dog.

Which celebrity/person inspires you the most, and why?

I have always loved Lauren Conrad. I think she’s a great role model because she’s intelligent and has great fashion sense. I love her girly but laid-back style and gorgeous makeup and hair.

Health and Fitness seem important to you. Has it always been, or was there a point in your life when you decided to change the way you ate and exercise?

I would say my last year in high school I became concerned with my overall health. But it wasn’t until college and living on my own when I really started to change my bad diet and lack of exercise. I have never been an athletic person, so it was hard for me to enjoy being active. Now that I have committed to a healthier lifestyle, I have never been happier!
