Guru Spotlight: Biancablovesu

Bianca B is a veteran beauty vlogger with over 80,000 subscribers and five years of videos. Her looks have something beautifully delicate about them, even when she steps out to take bold risks (which we love)! It’s also not hard to smile when she talks about how much she loves her husband and adorable son Caleb in her videos.
Since Bianca has her cosmetology license, she has a professional and knowledgeable view of beauty - but like any of us, she started out wearing drugstore brands. She didn’t even realize you could get your make-up done until she got it done for her high school prom! Her years of amazing vlogging memories have actually changed her - she’s less soft-spoken, more confident, and always thrilled to make a positive impact on her followers.
What is the best beauty advice that you have gotten? - Well, My mom taught me to blend my eyeshadow!
She never let me walk out of the house if my eyeshadow wasn't blended! Lol
What’s the worst beauty advice that you’ve gotten?
One time one of my teachers told me I needed to shed some weight for an upcoming photoshoot. Beauty isn't just about what's on the outside. I don't always need to wear makeup or be a size 0 to be beautiful.
Which celebrity inspires you the most, and why?
Beyoncé definitely! She's such a classy and graceful Woman. Not to mention beautiful inside and out. What I really love about her is she doesn't let the fame get to her head. Plus she can dance her tail off!
What do you do when you’re not vlogging?
I am a full time Mommy (chef, cleaner, organizer, teacher lol) to a Handsome almost 2 year old boy named Caleb! I also freelance on the weekends doing Weddings, Proms, one on one lessons. You name it!
If your vlog had a mission statement, what would it be?
What are your favorite vlogs to watch?
I really love watching Itsjudyslife and Good Mythical Morning!
What beauty products can you not live without?
I can not live without Nars tinted moisturizer, benefits they're real mascara, and Dior Creme de Rose lip Balm!
How long have you been into make-up?
I've been loving makeup since I was at least 5 years old! I always played dress up and gave my besties makeovers!
If you could only make up one part of your face per day, what would it be (i.e. eyes, lips, lashes)?
That's a tough one but I'd have to say lashes. Without mascara I look really tired haha
What was your first make-up experience that you remember?
One of my favorite makeup experiences was when I was 17 years old and I got my makeup done professionally at Mac Cosmetics for Prom! I was in awe. I couldn't believe people actually did makeup for a living. Prior to that I had only know about drugstore makeup so it opened a whole new world to me.
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start a vlog?
Yes, it's not easy! With that said, it has to be something you LOVE to do or else it feels like a chore. Be sure of yourself once you do take the plunge and don't let negative comments get to you.
What type of camera do you use? What do you use to edit your videos?
I use two different cameras. I have a Nikon D5100 with a 35mm 1.8g lens and a Canon t3i. I use iMovie to edit my videos.
What are the best aspects of running your own vlog? What are the hardest?
I love connecting with people all over the world. It's so touching when people write me letters telling me how they got through a tough situation just by watching my tutorials. The hardest is learning how to ignore mean non constructive comments.
What are your favorite places to shop?
I love Sephora, Ulta, CVS, Target and Marshall's!
Are there any trends that you are inspired by this season?
I'm loving flower headbands! I can create almost any look wearing one and I instantly feel like a princess.
If you have $1000 to spend on make-up, what would you buy?
Ah! Where do I start. I would probably splurge on high end products. Which I don't normally. Definitely some Tom Ford Lipsticks and La Mer Skin Care!
What’s in your travel beauty bag?
I take the basics, Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, bronzer, Em Cosmetics Mini eyeshadow Palette, benefit they're real mascara, lashes, and a ton of lip options!
What is your most memorable beauty faux-pas?
When I first started doing my makeup I didn't really know how to put on lashes. So one day I didn't notice that half of my eyelash was hanging off and no one told me! I didn't see until I got home!
Who is your make-up inspiration?
I really love Samantha from Batalash Beauty on Instagram!
What is your daily routine?
Usually I'm very simple during the week. Tinted moisturizer, mascara, powder, bronzer, and lip gloss. I also fill in my brows very naturally.
What is your day job?
I'm a stay at home mommy. I also have my cosmetology license.
How has starting a vlog changed your daily life? What have you learned from it?
I used to vlog a lot before my son came along. Now I have to balance being a mommy and a vlogger at the same time! It's not easy.
What are some of your favorite memories from the past year?
Moving into my new apartment is high on the list! Also, my son will be two this year in July and that trumps everything! He's so special!
What are your favorite things to do off-camera?
I really love decorating! I'm still in the process of decorating my apartment. IKEA is my favorite! I also love to dance. I used to be on a hip hop dance team in high school and college.
You mentioned in one of your videos that you love to cook. What are some of your favorite things to cook?
Yes, I love to cook. It's become so fun to learn new ways to cook traditional Latin dishes as well as cooking healthy. Who knew you could make chocolate pudding out of avocados and not feel guilty about eating it? :)
You also mentioned that you are both Mexican American and Puerto Rican. How has culture played a role in your life and shaped who you are today?
It's actually played a huge role in who I am today. Although in my culture women usually stay home with kids to take care of the family I feel like I have the best of both worlds. I can stay home AND do what I love while being able to contribute to my household.
You have been making YouTube videos for five years. Do you ever go back and watch your old videos? What do you think about them?
Yes I do! It's actually really funny to watch them and most of the time I cringe. Lol I was super shy and soft spoken back then.
Is there any advice about being a beauty guru or going through life that you would give your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to stay true to herself and do and say whatever I wanted. Often times I felt myself holding back because I was afraid of what people would say.
If you’re up for sharing one of your hardest moments for the past year, could you tell us how you got through it
Something I've never shared with anyone is that I felt like giving up completely on my YouTube. I felt like too many people were doing and I had been doing it for so long. Plus I let negative comments get to me and I didn't want to deal with it anymore. In the end I realized that I only have one life and I need to make the best of it because tomorrow is not promised.
